French investments in Egypt increased 17.9% during 2019/2020

CAIRO – 17 May 2021: French investments in Egypt increased 17.9 percent during the fiscal year 2019/2020, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

 

The statistics stated, in a statement issued, Monday, that the value of French investments in Egypt recorded $349 million during the 2019/2020, compared to $296.1 million during the 2018/2019.

 

Trade exchange between Egypt and France recorded $2.2 billion in 2020, compared to $2.4 billion in 2019, with a decrease of 6.9 percent.

 

The Egyptian exports to France reached $530.5 million in 2020, compared to $654.3 million in 2019, with a decrease of 18.9 percent.

 

While the Egyptian imports from France recorded $ 1.70 billion during 2020 compared to $ 1.75 billion in 2019, with a decrease of 2.4 percent, and this decrease came as a result of the corona pandemic that affected global trade.

 

Machinery and electrical appliances came on top of the list of the ten most important commodity groups Egypt exported to France during 2020, with exports amounting to $ 138.2 million.
