CAIRO – 18 April 2021: The ring road development project is one of the most important projects in Egypt, the Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel Al Wazir said Saturday evening.

“We have insistence to make it compete with international roads,” Al Wazir noted in a TV interview over a phone call.

The minister added that the ring road is being expanded to include 7 lanes in each direction, as the facilities have been moved and the properties that contradict with the expansion of the road have been removed, noting that the electricity on the road is being restructured again.

The minister indicated that on June 30, all areas that are expanding on the Ring Road will be completed, adding: “On August 30th, we will finish the lighting, the surface layer, etc..”

"The three governors are with us to help in the issue of expropriation for public benefit and compensation for the people, as LE 4 billion has been allocated so far as compensation for the expansion of the Ring Road, while LE 1.5 billion have been disbursed so far,” he said.

He considered that 800 houses were monitored, in contradiction to the expansion of the first phase of the Ring Road.
