Investments of Decent Life's 1st phase hit LE 7.5B

CAIRO – 1 April 2021: Volume of investments during the first phase of the Decent Life initiative amounted to LE 7.5 billion by the end of 2020, according to the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

 

In a recent report, the Ministry of Planning stated that the first phase of the Decent Life Initiative was launched at the beginning of the fiscal year 2019/2020, to cover the poorest 143 villages, followed by coverage of the poorest 232 villages in the year 20/2021, where 375 villages were covered with beneficiaries exceeding 4.7 million citizens.

 

The report emphasized that the Decent Life Initiative made achievements in its first phase to contribute to reducing poverty rates for the first time in Egypt's history.

 

The report pointed out that the political leadership launched the second phase of the Decent Life Initiative at the end of December 2020, to increase the volume of interventions and increase the population coverage, so that the villages of 51 centers would be targeted with a number of beneficiaries constituting 17 percent of the Egyptian population during the year 2022/2022.

 

Decent Life is an initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in 2019 to improve the standard of living and quality of life for the most vulnerable groups in Egypt.

 

According to Minister of Planning Hala El-Said, the initiative includes 4,500 villages and targets to improve the lives of 50 million Egyptians.

 

By the end of this year, El-Said said that the initiative will have covered 357 villages, and that it aims to cover the rest of the villages within three years.

 

The total investments injected in the initiative amount to more than L.E. 500 billion, where the investments of the first year surpasses L.E. 150 billion.
