CAIRO - 15 May 2020: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called upon the European Union (EU) to curb foreign interventions, eliminate terrorist organizations inLibya, and confront the parties supporting them, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez in a statement on Thursday.

In a phone call with Maltese counterpart Hon. Evarist Bartolo, Shoukry “outlined the determinants of the Egyptian vision towards reaching a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the crisis in order to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people for peace and stability,” said Hafez.

They also tackled the other international and regional issues of mutual concern, besides the bilateral relations, Hafez added.

In December 2019, Turkey signed with the Government of National Accord (GNA), which is an interim non-elected government that is recognized by the United Nations, two MoUs on defense, and gas drilling in the Mediterranean.

Since January, Turkey has been transporting Syrian mercenaries into the North Africa state and sending military officers and experts to command the operations rooms of the militias affiliated to the GNA.
