CAIRO – 3 May 2022: The Ministry of Health and Population announced Tuesday operating 36 medical caravans to remote and low-income areas on May 4-12, within Decent Life initiative.  

 

There will be one caravan in each of Aswan and Matrouh on May 4-5; in Giza on May 6-7; in Luxor, Beni Suef, Qalyoubiyah, Kafr El Sheikh, Beheira, and Fayoum on May 7-8; in New Valley, Asyut, and Aswan on May 8-9; in Ismailiyah, Cairo, Menya, Daqahliyah, and Beheira on May 9-10; and in Asyut, Red Sea, Giza, New Valley, Kafr El Sheikh, and Qalyoubiyah on May 10-11.

 

In the end, there will be caravans to 13 governorates at a time on May 11-12, and those are Menya, Sohag, Cairo, Beheira, Beni Suef, Aswan, Menoufeya, Matrouh, Qena, Suez, South Sinai, Damietta, and Gharbia.

 

The caravans do not just offer clinical check-ups, but also X-rays and blood tests, as well as medicines to those who need it. The specializations available are gastroenterology, pediatrics, otolaryngology, orthopedics, surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, cardiology, dermatology, and gynecology.

 

The Ministry of Health and Population had announced that the number of medical caravans operated in March at "Decent Life" villages and other low-income neighborhoods is 162, providing free services to 207,509 citizens.

 

In February, the ministry announced offering free medical services and treatment for 110,702 citizens via 82 medical caravans. The ministry elaborated that 15,950 blood tests were conducted and 23,100 health seminars were held to raise the health awareness of citizens.
