CAIRO - 19 March 2022: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati said the State exerts great efforts to develop various governorates, mainly in Upper Egypt, and provide a decent life for all citizens.

The water resources and irrigation projects fall in the heart of the underway development projects, given the fact that water is the main axis of development, the minister added.

The minister made the remarks during a meeting with Ragab Abdel-Azim, the undersecretary of the ministry and supervisor of the minister’s office to follow up the status of the water projects being implemented in the Upper Egyptian governorates.

Work is underway to implement 246 different water projects in the current fiscal year, Abdel Aati said.

More than 19,300 encroachments on the Nile River, water streams and the irrigation ministry’s properties were removed, representing an area of about 2 million m2.
