CAIRO – 10 August 2021: Some 52 markaz, a municipal division, will be supplied with optical fiber networks in 18 months as part of Haya Karima initiative to provide internet and other digital services therein.

The 52 markaz are located in the villages targeted in the initiative. Around a million buildings will benefit from the networks at an estimated cost of L.E.5.8 billion.

Telecom Egypt is tasked with the project under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications in a year and a half.

Haya Karima is a massive-scale project across the country that aims to improve the living standards of people This initiative targets improving the life standard of citizens in 175 towns and 4,209 villages, with a total budget of LE 515 billion allocated for the project when first announced. The budget for the project, however, is every growing as the initiatives tackles infrastructure, education, job creation, sanitation, and other aspects.

Haya Karima involves unique concerted efforts by multiple ministries and agencies.
