CAIRO – 20 July 2021: Sanitation projects came at the forefront of the “Haya Karima” presidential initiative’s projects covering 660 villages in Upper Egypt.

 

At total of L.E. 102 billion out of L.E. 200 billion are dedicated to sanitation projects in the initiative.

 

According to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly's statement, the Egyptian countryside will witness the completion of this great project with 100 percent of water, sanitation and electricity services, in addition to the development of roads, government complexes, and natural gas.

 

The initiative aims to cover sanitation services in all disadvantaged villages, as these villages constitute 82 percent of the villages of the first phase of the initiative. The initiative will cover of these villages and extend sewage networks to disadvantaged villages.

 

By the end of 2020, the initiative was able to develop and raise the efficiency of 21,974 homes to achieve decent housing by installing roofs for them, completing drinking water and sewage connections, improving access to clean drinking water services in 88 communities, and providing vocational and craft training worth L.E.10 million EGP.
