Egypt launches 'Distinguished Pharmacology Practice' including 100 projects

CAIRO – 18 March 2021: The Egyptian Drug Authority launched Wednesday an initiative called "Distinguished Pharmacology Practice" that includes 100 projects aimed at upgrading the skills of workers in the sector.

 

Beneficiaries of the initiative will receive such training courses as a grant offered by the Egyptian Drug Authority.

 

Head of the Central Administration for Pharmacist Care at the Ministry of Health Sherine Abdel Gawad explained that the courses are offered for fresh grads, public pharmacology institutions, and pharmacists in general.

 

The official pointed out that registration began in February, and that 6,900 got admitted. She added that the first training program will kick off in April.

 

The programs' content encompasses: governance of antibiotic use; clinical pharmacology in intensive care units of adults; drug practices in the oncology specialty; qualifying pharmacists at healthcare institutions and developing their performance; pharmacological education and disease counseling; and, the quality care principles and tools for pharmacists working at hospitals.  

 

Each program consists of three phases. The first is a number of lecture and workshops. The second is a practical one that lasts for three months. The last phase is a follow-up on the outcomes of the developmental projects implemented in the precedent phase.
