CAIRO - 14 March 2020: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry said on Sunday, "The world is witnessing an increasing interest in human rights… Human rights concern us as much as it concerns all those interested in it, the state expanded its efforts by forming the Permanent Higher Committee for Human Rights and communicating with the National Council for Human Rights to coordinate ways to overcome any negatives and improve the extent to which the Egyptian citizen enjoys his rights."

During a meeting of the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives, Shoukry indicated that all social and economic considerations should be taken into account when dealing with these issues.

He pointed out that the claims of some organizations regarding this file tend to indicate complete absence of accurate knowledge.

"We are holding this dialogue with complete transparency, and we have nothing to hide or fear, and after two revolutions, Egypt held presidential elections, as well as the House of Representatives and the Senate elections. Also, the House of Representatives witnessed a female representative that exceeded 25 percent, which has not been achieved in many developed countries.

Our partners often neglect many of the positives, and some media outlets and international organizations focus on what they consider as negatives without looking at human rights from a comprehensive perspective; you will see no progress if you don’t consider all variables," the foreign minister added.
