CAIRO – 10 March 2021:  Egypt’s government will start issuing certificate for those who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 as of next week, Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed revealed Wednesday.

The bilingual certificate will be printed directly from the ministry's webpage dedicated for registering the names of citizens wishing to be inoculated, Zayed pointed out during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to discuss the ministry's investment plan for the next financial year.

Economic Development Minister Hala El Saeed attended the meeting, along with a host of senior officials from both ministries.

The proposed plan covers the completion of the universal health coverage rollout in the five 1st Phase governorates, namely Ismailia, Suez, Luxor, South Sinai and Aswan, as well as family medicine facilities in 2nd Phase governorates, namely Sohag, Minya, Qalubiya, Kafr El Sheikh and Marsa Matrouh, said a statement by Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad.

It also includes the completion of 14 hospital projects under construction in six governorates as part the presidential "Decent Life" Initiative, the spokesman added.

The plan also aims to increase the number of neonatal incubators, ICU, childcare units and medical centers for early detection and screening of breast cancer nationwide as part of the Women's Health Initiative adopted by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

It also covers the provision of medical clinics for early screening of kidney disease in 10 hospitals as part of another president-backed initiative targeting the early detection and treatment of kidney diseases and other chronic illnesses, the spokesman noted.

On Monday, Zayed said that a total of 400,000 citizens have registered to reserve the Coronavirus vaccines since the launch of the website last week.

Egyptian senior citizens, aged above 40 years old, started registering for anti-Coronavirus vaccine online last Sunday.

This comes as part of the state's plan to address the Coronavirus pandemic and focus on the public health of citizens.

A total of 1,141 citizens have received the first coronavirus vaccine dose on Thursday, the first day of the vaccination campaign targeting the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases.

he registration to get the vaccine is done either online (http://mohpegypt.com) or at certain health facilities. Afterwards, citizens get informed about the time and place where they will receive the vaccine.

The Ministry of Health put certain criteria during the registration process on the website, asking citizens to provide 3 medical reports to determine their health status, and then the website automatically determines priority regarding receiving the vaccine. Then, a text message will be sent to citizens on when and where they could receive the vaccine.

The eligible citizens have to take two shots of the vaccine (21 days apart) at a cost of LE 200 (US$ 12.73) per shot.
