CAIRO - 8 March 2020: Egypt's Foreign Ministry is closely following up a probe launched by Saudi authorities on the murder of an Egyptian national.

Egyptian national Ashri Mohamed Hassan, from Minya Governorate, was shot dead in Riyadh. The culprit was arrested.

Egypt's Consul General Riyadh Ehab Abdel Hamid has paid a visit to the Saudi Forensic Medical Authority, where he met its chief to speed up procedures to bring the victim's body home.

The diplomat also visited Hassan's nephew, Hussien Samy Mohamed Hassan, who was also injured in the incident.

Hassan's body would be brought home once the necessary legal procedures are completed, the ministry said.

For his part, labor attaché Ahmed Rajaei, the head of the Labor Representation Office in Riyadh, said that the Egyptian consulate immediately dispatched its legal advisor to the criminal investigation, the prosecution, forensic medicine and the hospital, to follow up the progress of the investigations and to identify the circumstances of the accident.
