CAIRO – 27 February 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued directives on Saturday regarding the completion of the digital and information infrastructure of the government district in the New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Communication and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat, Sisi urged ensuring the readiness and preparation of various components of this infrastructure before actually moving the government’s headquarters to the new capital, the Presidency said in a statement.

“With that, a new era of advanced government work and distinguished services for citizens will begin that will also connect the State’s administrative apparatus to government data-handling networks,” the Presidency said.

The meeting has reviewed the executive status of the digital and information infrastructure in the new capital concerning security, services and the facility management and smart government, the statement added.

During the meeting, Sisi was briefed on the status of the plan to transfer government bodies to the new capital.

“The plan includes the main State communication and data centers, the technological infrastructure of the premises- such as data transmission networks, visual and audio equipment, surveillance cameras, and electronic gates for individuals and vehicles- operation centers, facility management, security, traffic systems, and mobile network coverage, the Presidency noted.

CEO of the New Administrative Capital Company Ahmed Zaki Abdeen, Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Ehab El-Far, and Director of the Information Systems Department of the Armed Forces Yasser Abu Mandour attended the meeting with the president.
