CAIRO – 25 February 2021: Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki concluded his visit to the UAE Wednesday as he had held a number of meetings on the sidelines of the International Defense Exhibition and Conference 2021 (IDEX 2021).

 

Zaki met with Emirati Minister of State for Defense Affairs Mohammed al-Bawardi hailing the level of organization of the event in spite of COVID-19. Both ministers discussed ways of cooperation, and exchanged views on matters of mutual interests.

The Egyptian minister, who is also the General Commander of the Armed Forces, met with Emirati Chief of Staff Hamad Mohammed Thani al-Rumaihi saying that the exhibition is an opportunity to reinforce partnerships between different countries in the military and technology realms.

In that context, Zaki held meetings with each of the French, Serbian, and Cypriot counterparts as well as the chiefs of the Emirati defense and military company Edge, Europe's MBDA missile systems, Boeing, and UAE's International Golden Group (IGG).

The minister also attended a parallel exhibition of naval equipment dubbed NEVDEX 2021. He extended the greetings of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to the leadership and people of the UAE upon arrival.

 

Zaki checked the Egyptian pavilion as well as those of Itay's Fincantieri shipbuilding company, which is one of the best in manufacturing submarines, and UAE's Al Hamra Trading Establishment specialized in cyber security.

The minister lauded the Gulf state for producing advanced defense equipment supplied with high-tech technology that can compete globally.

 

The Ministry of State for Military Production and the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) are participating in the International Defense Exhibition and Conference 2021 (IDEX 2021) held in Abu Dhabi on February 21-25.

 

The defense equipment produced by the military production companies are exhibited in the Egyptian pavilion. And, they include the armored vehicles ST100 and ST500, K-8 jet trainer, and Crocodile Tank.

 

Egypt had also participated in IDEX 2018, and IDEX 2019 as it does not just present its products but also gets acquainted with other countries' production.
