CAIRO - 23 February 2020: A total of 623 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 178,774, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday.



In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 51 coronavirus-linked deaths were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the overall death toll to 10,404 since the outset of the pandemic.



As many as 346 cases were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving the necessary medical care, taking the total number of recovered cases so far to 138,183, the spokesman added.

 

Early, a vaccine shipment – consisting of 300,000 doses - granted by China to Egypt arrived to Cairo International Airport.

 

Egypt is finalizing the vaccination of medical staff at quarantine hospitals, and will begin next week vaccinating high-priority citizens. The registration to get the vaccine is done either online or at certain health facilities. Afterwards, citizens get informed about the time and place where they will receive the vaccine.
