CAIRO – 20 February 2021: Alexandria Port will receive the first batch of new train vehicles from Hungary Tuesday after receiving some of them from Russia.

Egypt will receive the deal as part of the contract signed between the "Russian-Hungarian" Transmach Holding Company and the Egyptian Railways Authority for the manufacture and supply of 1,300 regular and air-conditioned vehicles at a cost of 1.065 billion euros.

The batch to arrive on Tuesday includes four Hungarian industrial vehicles, as the agreement signed with the Railways Authority stipulates that 51 percent of the contracted 1,300 vehicles will be manufactured in Hungary as the financier of the deal, while the rest of the vehicles will be manufactured in Russia.

So far, the Egyptian Railway Authority has received 243 vehicles of the total 1,300 carriages manufactured in Russia.
