Egypt’s FM, new Sudanese counterpart discuss ways of enhancing bilateral ties

CAIRO – 11 February 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry conducted a phone call with new Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mariam al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, after she was sworn in, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez said in a statement on Wednesday.
 
Shoukry extended to her his sincere congratulations on taking office, expressing sincere wishes for success in her mandate.
 
Egypt’s Foreign Minister stressed his country’s keenness to continue promoting bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries in the coming period, and to intensify coordination and joint action so as to achieve excellence within the framework of the constructive strategic cooperation between Egypt and Sudan, in addition to building on the existing momentum witnessed in their cooperation path, Hafez added.
 
Shoukry also wished Sudan continued welfare and progress, and the Sudanese people further prosperity and well-being, and inviting her to visit Cairo at the earliest opportunity, Hafez said.
 
The Sudanese Foreign Minister affirmed, on her part, her deep appreciation for Egypt and her aspiration to jointly work towards achieving further enhancement of bilateral relations in light of the historical fraternity binding the two peoples of the Nile Valley, while stressing that strengthening bilateral cooperation with Egypt during the coming period constitutes a high priority.
