Egypt accomplishes infrastructure worth LE1.17T in less than 2 years

CAIRO – 3 February 2021: In the speech he delivered before the House of Representatives Wednesday, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem al-Gazar stated that infrastructure projects accomplished between June 2018 and January 2020 are worth LE1.17 trillion.

 

Speaking of housing, 1.2 million residential units were built within that time frame, and the value of their construction costs is LE400 billion.

 

The minister displayed figures on finished and ongoing housing projects targeted at different income categories. For middle-income housing, the ministry is building residential units across the country dubbed Dar Misr and Sakan Misr; and, for high-income housing, it is constructing residencies called JANNA.

 

For Dar Misr, 41,424 units worth LE13 billion are completed, and 15,480 others worth LE4.6 billion are under construction. As for Sakan Misr, 2,232 units worth LE670 million were finished, and 67,696 worth LE20.3 billion are being built. With regard to JANNA, 4,032 units worth LE1.6 billion were delivered, and 36,248 others worth LE14.5 billion are under progress.

 

As the country is building dozens of new cities, the ministry is offering 85,000 residential units that cost LE200 billion. In addition, to serve citizens dwelling desert areas within certain governorates, the ministry accomplished 3,000 residential units in Aswan, North Sinai, and South Sinai.
