CAIRO – 3 February 2021: Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed indicated in a statement Wednesday that a shipment of 150,000 liters of oxygen arrived at Safaga airport coming from Saudi Arabia.

The minister said that the shipment was imported to increase the strategic reserve affirming that public hospitals no longer suffer from a shortage in oxygen.

The Health Ministry monitors the system of medical oxygen supply every six hours at hospitals, hospital beds and intensive care units as well as the situation at quarantine hospitals, according to an earlier statement.

The Scientific Committee to Combat Coronavirus submits a daily report on the conditions of patients at quarantine and fever hospitals with details about the available medicine and oxygen cylinders inside, the ministry’s statement said.

The statement came after widespread concern in the country that medical oxygen is lacking in a few hospitals.
