CAIRO – 17 January 2021: Court of Urgent Affairs approved Sunday the request put forward by the head of Muslim Brotherhood Wealth Confiscation Committee issuing a ruling to confiscate the wealth of 89 leaders and elements of the Muslim Brotherhood and put it under the control of the Public Treasury.

The individuals concerned include the heirs of late President Mohamed Morsi; late Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie; his deputy Khairat al-Shater; Safwat Hegazy; Mohamed al-Beltagy; Mohsen Rady; Asaad al-Sheikha; Abdel Rahman al-Bar; Ayman Hodhod; and others. Those were convicted in terror crimes.

The Muslim Brotherhood is outlawed in Egypt and designated terrorist group. Morsi, who was member of the Supreme Guidance Bureau, had been president for one year before his regime got toppled over mass protests on July 3, 2013.

Out of vengeance, the group waged terror attacks – mainly bombings – that took place until 2017, and targeted churches, security directorates, and civilians on crowded streets. Its elements also assassinated late Public Prosecutor Hisham Barakat in 2014.
