The forum, which runs from March 1-5, will be held virtually under the motto "Shaping Africa’s New Normal: Recovering Stronger, Rebuilding Better", the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

During the meeting, Abdel Latif said the second edition of Aswan forum will focus on how to recover from the coronavirus pandemic to achieve the African Union's 2063 Agenda and the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

On their part, the UN agencies' representatives asserted the importance of holding the second edition of Aswan forum, especially in light of this critical phase, which requires strengthening international cooperation for the sake of overcoming the current crisis and dealing with its economic and social repercussions on the African continent, the statement added.

On December 2019, Egypt hosted the first edition of Aswan forum, which serves as a high-profile platform that proposes solutions to the challenges facing African countries in the fields of peace, security and sustainable development.

The forum brings together leaders from governments, regional and international organizations, financial institutions, private sector, and civil society, as well as visionaries, scholars and key experts, practitioners for a context-specific and action-oriented discussion of the new risks, threats and challenges, as well as opportunities that lie ahead.
