CAIRO – 13 January 2021: The Health Ministry monitors the system of medical oxygen supply every six hours at hospitals, hospital beds and intensive care units as well as the situation at quarantine hospitals, according to a Wednesday statement.

The Scientific Committee to Combat Coronavirus submits a daily report on the conditions of patients at quarantine and fever hospitals with details about the available medicine and oxygen cylinders inside, the ministry’s statement said.

The statement came after widespread concern in the country that medical oxygen is lacking in a few hospitals.

The Health Ministry reported in a statement on Tuesday that 970 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 151,723.

Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 55 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 8,304.

As many as 423 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 119,635 so far, the spokesman said.
