CAIRO – 12 January 2021: Over a phone call with his Yemeni counterpart Maeen Abdulmalik, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli affirmed Egypt’s full support for the new Yemeni government in achieving stability for the Yemeni people, reported Yemeni news agency (SABA) on Monday.

Madbouli congratulated Abdulmalik on the formation of the new government, wishing them safety, especially after the terrorist attack that targeted Aden International Airport when the new government members arrived in Aden late December 2020.

The Egyptian Prime Minister also offered his condolences to the victims who killed in the attack and wishes a speedy recovery for the wounded.

The Yemeni Prime Minister praised the joint cooperation between the two countries and expressed both countries’ keenness to activate the work of the Yemeni-Egyptian Supreme Committee.

They also discussed issues of common concern regarding various files at the national, regional, and international levels.

On December 19, 2020, Egypt welcomed the formation of the new power-sharing government in Yemen under the Saudi brokerage, said Egyptian Spokesperson Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hazef in a statement.

The new government came in implementation of the Riyadh Agreement terms, Hafez said, adding that such agreement is a step towards reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Yemeni crisis.
