CAIRO – 27 December 2020: Ten coronavirus patients were killed and six others injured after a fire erupted in an ICU room in a quarantine hospital in Egypt, the state-owned news agency MENA reported.

“The flames broke out inside the ICU room due to a faulty wiring of a device measuring vital signs of the body,” MENA added.

Security forces in Obour district of Qalyoubiya, in Greater Cairo, arrested the hospital owner and the director.

“A nursing supervisor and two nurses have also been also arrested. The nursing supervisor suggested that the fire was caused by a short circuit in a ventilator, believing the oxygen had set the blaze,” it said.
