CAIRO – 10 December 2020: Cooperation in immigration sphere has been discussing Thursday between Egyptian Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram, and her Iraqi counterpart Evan Faeq Jabro.

Makram praised the long-standing relations between Egypt and Iraq, saying that the ministry is looking forward to exchanging experience with the Iraqi side in this regard, read a statement by the Ministry of Immigration Thursday.

During the meeting, Makram reviewed her ministry's strategy for “making the best use of the expertise of Egyptian scientists working abroad in executing national projects,” the statement added.

On her part, the Iraqi minister said that she seeks to benefit from the Egyptian Ministry of Immigration's successful experience in the migrants’ issue, and how to give them the space for connecting with their homeland.

Jabro further underscored the current momentum in the Egyptian-Iraqi ties, citing the inking of joint agreements between the two countries in a number of key domains, a top of which is the issue of immigration, the statement noted.

Challenges facing both Egyptian and Iraqi expats were also discussed.

The two countries are due to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) soon on the exchange of experience regarding immigration, through holding joint conferences training courses and workshops.
