CAIRO – 10 December 2020: Egypt is willing to host the 9th conference of the member states of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) on December 13-17 in 2021 in Sharm el Sheikh, stated Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations in New York Mohamed Edrees.

 

This came in Edrees's remarks during his participation in the International Anti-Corruption Day organized by the UN Office on Drugs and Crimes in cooperation with the permanent missions of Peru and Colombia.

 

Asserting the importance of international cooperation, Edrees also stressed that multilateral work is a necessity to face corruption.

 

Edrees expressed Egypt's appreciation for the efforts exerted by the office to combat corruption in spite of the circumstances resulting from coronavirus pandemic.

 

He also reviewed the national efforts exerted to combat corruption that are based on ensuring the principles of sovereignty of law and respecting the human rights.
