CAIRO – 3 December 2020: In a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, US President Donald Trump hailed the fruitful partnership and constructive cooperation between Egypt and the US, Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said on Thursday.

Trump also praised the mutual pivotal understanding between the two countries on enhancing security and stability in the Middle East.

President Sisi expressed appreciation for Trump’s efforts and contributions in establishing extending friendship relations between Egypt and the US. He wished the US and American people prosperity.

Sisi also affirmed Egypt’s keenness to continue exerting efforts aiming at enhancing strategic relations between the two countries, in a way that benefit their peoples and within the framework of common interests and mutual respect.

This comes a month after Joe Biden has been elected the 46th president of the United States, succeeding Trump, who has served one term.

During his tenure, Trump and Sisi have met several times and have also discussed via phone several issues of mutual concern. Trump has sponsored Ethiopian Renaissance Dam talks and has promoted Egypt’s right to defend its water security amid Ethiopia’s intransigence.

They have also agreed on the need to deescalate the situation in Libya through pushing for an immediate ceasefire followed by a political dialogue.

Egyptian-American relations witness significant development during rule of President Sisi

CAIRO -10 November 2020: Under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's rule, Egypt's relations with the United States progressed through the resumption of the Egyptian-American strategic dialogue at the level of foreign ministers for the first time since 2009, in addition toSisi's visits to Washington, and the visit of senior officials from the US administration and congressional delegations to Cairo.
