CAIRO – 3 December 2020: Egyptian and German foreign ministers have voiced rejection of foreign interference in the affairs of Libya and highlighted the need for a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis, as they made a phone call on Thursday.

 

According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Egypt’s Sameh Shoukry and Germany’s Heiko Maas called for backing efforts to rebuild the Libyan national institutions and to reach a comprehensive solution to the crisis, based on Berlin conference and the Cairo declaration.

 

The ministers also discussed developments of the Palestinian cause. They discussed efforts to revive the peace process and negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, with the aim of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the crisis, based on the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

 

Shoukry and Maas discussed ways to boost bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany in various fields, on top of which is strengthening economic relations, through enhancing trade exchange between the two countries.

 

Shoukry voiced aspiration to resume German tourism to Egyptian tourist attractions, given efforts made by the concerned Egyptian authorities to ensure the safety of visitors.
