CAIRO – 3 December 2020: Minister of Social Solidarity Neveen EL-Qabbaj assured that the measures taken by the government since the emergence of Coronavirus have played an important role in reducing its negative effects on families.

Listing the recent moves by the government, Qabbaj mentioned the increase of pensions by 14 percent, and pumping L.E. 14 billion out of L.E. 35 billion; the total of five bonus payments to pensioners.

During a press conference held Thursday by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, Qabbaj added that the government’s procedures further included providing temporary financial support to 140,000 families of the workers at affected sectors for three months. She also said that there were many food convoys deployed to citizens nationwide.

Qabbaj also explained that the government is implementing a promising plan to address the population problem in which all relevant ministries and national councils participate.
