CAIRO – 26 November 2020: Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport received Thursday the first Air Cairo flight coming from Uzbekistan, with 160 tourists on board.

The airliner is scheduled to operate a weekly flight from Uzbekistan to Sharm El-Sheikh until the end of the current winter season.

Hussein El-Sharif, Chairman of Air Cairo, stated that this operation comes within the company's plan to operate four flights per week between Sharm El-Sheikh, Cairo and Tashkent as of April 2021, in addition to a flight between Sharm El-Sheikh and Samarkand as of December 2020.

El-Sharif further referred to instructions by the Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar on need to open new markets in Central Asia and Africa to diversify the sources of passenger traffic to and through Egyptian airports, and maximize the benefit from the distinguished location of the Egyptian airports between the three continents.
