President Abdel Fattah El Sisi meets with Orange CEO Stéphane Richard – Presidency

CAIRO – 23 November 2020: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed Egypt’s aspiration to boost cooperation with the Paris-based telecommunications company Orange S.A. and other French companies, in a meeting with Orange CEO Stéphane Richard.

 

The meeting, attended also by Egyptian Minister of Communications Amr Talaat and Orange officials, came to follow up on future projects of the French company in Egypt, the Egyptian Presidency said.

 

Sisi and Richard discussed cooperation, in light of the strategic bilateral relations between Egypt and France, and the special experience of French companies in all fields.

 

For his part, Richard affirmed the company’s keenness to expand its activities in Egypt, referencing the huge, promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian communications and information technology sector.

 

Richard hailed young, qualified Egyptian cadres as well as initiatives launched to bring technology to Egyptian governorates and advance the industry of electronics. He also praised the modern infrastructure Egypt enjoys.

 

Orange has been operating in Egypt since 1999, making it the oldest mobile network operator in the country. It was formerly known as Mobinil.
