CAIRO - 10 September 2020: Palestinians and the entire Arab world have lost a “steadfast and unshakable fighter,” whose cause and goals were clear and legitimate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said mourned Palestinian spokesperson Saeb Erekat.

Erekat, who died Tuesday of Covid-19 at 65 years old, was the top Palestinian negotiator who witnessed the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s negotiations with the Israelis through decades.

In Egypt’s statement, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry offered his sincere condolences to Erekat’s family, the Palestinian people and leaders.

Erekat’s name will “remain a light and a symbol of the honor of the struggle and the Palestinian national cause,” the statement said.
