The message also expressed appreciation to Egypt’s support to DR Congo in all regional and international forums and to the brotherly relations linking the two countries, Egyptian Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

It also affirmed keenness to continue enhancing these relations, especially in the developmental fields.

Sisi asked to convey his greetings to Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi, stressing that Egypt would continue to support DR Congo at all levels in order to achieve stability, development and progress for the Congolese people.

This comes as an extension of the distinguished historical relations between the two countries, which represent a model for cooperation and joint coordination within the African continent, the spokesman said.

The meeting also discussed a number of African issues of mutual concern, especially as DR Congo is set to assume the presidency of the African Union soon. Sisi affirmed that Egypt will support DR Congo during that stage.

He also expressed confidence in President Tshisekedi’s success to carry out the important responsibilities of leading the joint African action over the next year.

Egypt has provided all needed preparations and medical supplies to the newly-opened department through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD).
