CAIRO - 3 November 2020: Egyptian expats in 124 countries continued on Tuesday voting in the second phase of the House of Representatives elections.

Egyptians abroad are required to print their ballot papers via the National Election Authority (NEA)’s website and send them to the premises of the Egyptian diplomatic missions in the countries they live in.

Egyptian embassies and diplomatic missions will be receiving the voting envelopes on November 4 through 6 from the Egyptian voters who have already registered their names on the NEA's website.

There is constant coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the NEA, chaired by Counselor Lashin Ibrahim, to respond to all inquiries from Egyptians abroad on the House of Representatives election.

The first round of the first phase of voting – where a total of 1,879 individual candidates and two lists were running - took place on October 21-23 for expats, and October 24-25 for resident Egyptians. Some of the individual candidates are independent while the others are members of political parties.

The rerun of that phase over some individual seats will be held on November 21-23 for expats, and November 24-25 for resident citizens.

Justice Ibrahim stated that the Egyptian Armed Forces transported 1,200 judges and 70 tons of ballots as part of security measures it carried out in time of voting.

The rerun of the second phase of voting will be held on December 5-7 for expats, and December 7-8 for resident citizens.

For individual candidates, 2,085 will run in 13 governorates, which are Cairo (19 districts with 31 seats); Qalyoubeya (six districts with 16 seats); Daqahleya (10 districts with 21 seats); Menoufeya (six districts with 11 seats); Sharqeya (eight districts with 21 seats); Gharbeya (seven districts with 14 seats); Kafr Al Sheikh (four districts with 10 seats); Ismailiyah (three districts with five seats); Suez (one district with two seats); Port Said; South Sinai; and, North Sinai. Each of the last three has two districts with two seats.

In the second phase, lists will be competing over 100 seats in Cairo, North and Middle Delta Electoral District, and 42 seats in Eastern Delta District.
