CAIRO – 16 October 2020: Five felons were killed in a shoot-out with security forces on Friday Dakahlia governorate, Egypt’s Delta, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Interior.

The felons were fugitives from justice for charges with deliberate murder, the attempt of murdering, robbery, possession of illegal weapons, the statement added.

One week ago, an extremely dangerous criminal was killed while two others were arrested in a shoot-out with Egyptian security forces in Upper Egypt’s Governorate, Assuit.

On August 21, 2020, the security forces killed another dangerous criminal, who was convicted in 11 cases, in a shoot-out Assuit as well.

Early May 2020, two other high-risk terrorists were shot dead in a shoot-out with Egyptian armed forces in the North Sinai governorate.

Egypt has been countering terrorism and extremism ideologies over the past years since the ouster of late Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi. Several operations have been taking place in Sinai against terrorists, as many Egyptian officers and soldiers have martyred in the battle.
