Egypt hosts Libyan Political Dialogue Forum from October 11-13

CAIRO – 11 October 2020: The Libyan Parliament delegation praised the Egyptian efforts to bring the Libyan parties together especially in light of the difficult circumstances that Libya is going through.

 

Ismael Al-Sharif, a member of the Libyan Parliament, affirmed that the political process is based on a solid constitutional process and democratic foundations that define responsibilities, rights and duties.

 

He also explained that implementing the law and establishing justice can only be achievedifstate institutions control and regulate the use of power and weapons, stressingthat when the use of weapons is not controlledby thestate, it threatens the political process.

 

The Libyan MP called for the rejection of violence and the transition to the stage of friendship and appreciation, asserting that the Libyan delegations will deal with the constitutional path open-mindedly to overcome all the challenges.

 

The Libyan constitutional path was launched in Cairo under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, to hold consultations between the delegations of Parliament and the High Council of State, on constitutional issues. The forum will runfrom October 11 to 13, and is hosted by the Egyptian Government.
