Egyptian President Advisor warns of laxity in COVID-19 preventive measures

CAIRO – 5 October 2020: Advisor to the Egyptian President for Health Affairs, Muhammad Awad Tajuddin, warned of laxity in following precautionary measures to combat prevent the coronavirus in a statement to Extra News on Monday.

Tajuddin noted that the winter season will witness the normal spread of seasonal influenza, which would accordingly help in the spread of COVID-19 as well.

“We must be fully prepared to deal with any increase in the number of infections during the coming period,”stressed Tajuddin.

The presidential advisor added that face masks prevent viral and bacterial diseases in addition to the coronavirus. He also revealed that clinical trials on a Chinese vaccine are currently being conducted.

On September 30, China’s Ambassador in Egypt Liao Liqiang said that consultation and cooperation between Egyptian and Chinese companies are taking place in the field of vaccine production, explaining that the Chinese-Egyptian cooperation on the vaccine has reached the third stage of clinical trials.

The number of coronavirus infections in Egypt has reached 103,683, including 97,355 recoveries. And the death toll has reached 5,981, since the beginning of the pandemic, according to Worldometer.
