CAIRO – 3 October 2020: Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir said that the implementation of the first phase of the high speed train project linking between Ain el-Sokhna and El-Alamein will begin within two months.

The first phase will begin from the international sports city in the Administrative Capital to Borg el-Arab city in Alexandria, with a length of 260 km, passing through New Cairo and 6 of October city.

An alliance of Egyptian and international companies are carrying out the implementation of the project, whose length is 438 km, and its speed reaches 260 km/hour.

The carriages of the speed train will be manufactured locally in East Port Said zone.

This comes as part of the ministry’s plan to domesticate all train industry in Egypt, and seeking international companies’ help in implementing such major projects like the monorail, the high speed train and the electrified trains, so that the Egyptian companies get the needed expertise in the field.
