Chinese-Egyptian cooperation on COVID-19 vaccine reaches 3rd stage of clinical trials: China’s Amb. in Egypt

CAIRO – 30 September 2020: China’s Ambassador in Egypt Liao Liqiang said that his country is exchanging expertise, information and medical aid with African countries, stressing that China is keen to work with the international community to help all countries.

He added in statements, Wednesday that China is committed to cooperation with Egypt, and that there is coordination and continues communication between the presidents of the two countries. He explained that the meetings between Chinese and Egyptian experts aims at exchanging information and experiences to confront the Coronavirus.

The Chinese ambassador in Cairo confirmed that there is consultation and cooperation between Egyptian and Chinese companies in the field of vaccine production, explaining that the Chinese-Egyptian cooperation on the vaccine has reached the third stage of clinical trials.

Ambassador Liqiang also pointed out that teaching ‘the Chinese language’ as a second language in some schools serves Chinese companies that invest in Egypt and provides job opportunities for young people, stressing that there is cooperation in the political, economic, scientific and educational fields.

Liqiang said that China has provided aid and support to the international community, including cash assistance worth $50 million to the World Health Organization, sending a team of medical experts to 32 countries in the world, and provided 283 aid packages of medical and preventive supplies to 150 countries and 4 international organizations in the world.

He added that between March 15 to 6 September, 2020, China exported more than 150 billion masks, 1.2 billion protective suits, 230 million goggles, 209,000 ventilators, 470 million Coronavirus test reagents, and 80 million thermometers.
