CAIRO – 13 September 2020: In a meeting with Chief of Staff of the Bureau of the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Abdoulaye Diop on Saturday, Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Loza discussed with the latest developments in Mali, especially after imposing sanctions.

 

The meeting also tackled the necessity of operating the Cairo-based African Union Center for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development through a clear roadmap in the coming period to responds to the urgent requirements of reconstruction and development in a number of African countries, especially South Sudan, Sahel and Sub- Sahara countries, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

 

Both sides also exchanged the views nominations and vacancies in the African Union, besides ways to enhance the presence of Egyptian expertise in the organization. They also discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the annual Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU) and the Regional Economic Communities (RECs), besides the preparations for the African-European summit.

 

They tackled the current preparations for holding the annual coordination summit between AU and regional economic blocs as well as preparations for the African-European summit.
