CAIRO - 6 September 2020: As a video earlier circulated on social media showing two Kuwaitis thrashing an Egyptian expat in a store for games in Al Ahmadi governorate, the Egyptian Ministry of Immigration said the video was “taken out of context”.

The short video, which was filmed by another person who belongs to the assaulters, was published by Kuwaiti Tfteesh news platform, stirring bitterness among Egyptian people.

The video “does not include all the details of the incident during which physical clashes took place between the parties to the incident,” the ministry said in a statement on Sunday, adding that the incident ended with an "apology to the Egyptian citizen."

The two assaulters who appeared in the video entering a store for games, chatting for a short time with an Egyptian citizen working at the store and then beating him abruptly and aggressively are held and investigated at the police station, according to the statement.

The ministry added that it would not reveal personal details about the Egyptian citizen, as per his request.

In August, Kuwait referred to investigations two people, a Saudi and Kuwati nationals, over insulting and assaulting an Egyptian doctor and a security personnel while performing their work.

The case was referred to investigative authorities to find out details of the incident by retrieving the data from the surveillance cameras, in order to take a legal action in this regard.

According to Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai, the two defendants attacked the Al-Adan Hospital in Kuwait, and assaulted two personnel, a receptionist and an Egyptian doctor after storming his examination room, beat him and forced him to examine them.

The two attackers were stopped by police forces before escaping.
