CAIRO - 6 September 2020: According to a statement issued by the Health Ministry on Saturday, 130 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 99712.

Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 16 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5511.

As many as 903 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 77208 so far, the spokesman said.

Egyptian officials have repeatedly urged caution to avoid a second wave of the pandemic, particularly with the advent of autumn and the beginning of the new school year.

Egypt's daily toll of infections dropped below 200 once more since the beginning of September following a slight increase the country witnessed through last week of August.
