CAIRO – 2 September 2020:  Nearly 7 types of Coronavirus genes out of 8 in the world exist in Egypt according to Advisor of Egyptian President for Health and Precautionary Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag el-Din.

He added in statements to MBC Misr Channel that the first wave of Coronavirus did not end so we can talk about the second, adding that there is a kind of fluctuation in the numbers of infections, as a result of the Eid al-Adha and the summer holidays, in which the people were not fully commitment to the precaution measures.

Tag el-Din explained that COVID-19 has different eight genes in the world, but as a result of the research conducted at the Medical Research Center, we discovered that Egypt has seven out of them.

He also stressed on the necessity of wearing face masks especially in public transport, stressing that commitment helps to overcome the autumn and winter phase.

On Tuesday, Egypt recorded 176 new coronavirus cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 99,115.

Egypt's civil aviation authority announced on Sunday that all passengers coming to Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Alam, and Taba airports are allowed to conduct PCR tests for COVID-19 upon their arrival.

Ashraf Noweir, the authority's head, informed all airlines operating in the four airports that the decision will be effective as of Tuesday, September 1. The PCR test costs $30.

Egypt announced that starting September 1, all arriving international travelers, including Egyptian citizens, will need to present a negative PCR test certificate for COVID-19 taken before arrival.

PCR tests must be taken within 72 hours before arrival. Travelers must present paper copies of the test results; digital copies will be unaccepted. Children under the age of six of all nationalities are exempt.
