Egypt’s PM says deadline of building violation reconciliation not to be extended

CAIRO - 31 August 2020: Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said, Monday that a deadline of building violation reconciliation will not be extended after September 30.

Starting October 1, all non-reconciled encroachments will be removed, Madbouli warned during a Cabinet meeting to probe the issue.

He directed during a Monday Mistrial meeting that a central unit be formed to detect building violations in each governorate.

Random construction will not be tolerated any more, the premier said, warning that the new system to detect violations will prevent that.

Egypt’s Minister of Interior, Mahmoud Tawfik also stressed that removal procedures are currently taking place with respect to all violations, and that coordination is being made with the concerned authorities.

He confirmed that a specialized unit will be formed to coordinate with the governorates regarding building violations. “We are ready remove all building violations anywhere”, Tawfik said.

The meeting which was headed by Egypt’s premier Madbouly was attended by Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of Interior, Asim Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Major General Staff Sherif Saleh, Director Military Survey Administration.
