CAIRO - 16 August 2020: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi handed former President Adly Mansour an honorary award on Sunday for the latter's "great role during one of the most difficult stages" witnessed by Egypt.

Sisi has inaugurated Phase 4 of Metro Line 3 at Adly Mansour interchange station with the presence of Mansour.

Mansour was the head of the Supreme Consitiutional Court when late President Mohamed Morsi was deposed on July 3, 2013, which made him the acting president of Egypt from July 4 until June 8, 2014. He was succeeded by Sisi in a landslide election win.

The presidency of Mansour was filled with violence by angry supporters of Morsi. He kept a distance from political ambitions and the election was held in a safe and secure environment for the voters.
