CAIRO – 15 August 2020: Egypt’s Cabinet will bear all expenses of an urgent surgery for a conjoined twin, announced Houssam Al Masry, the Prime Minister’s medical advisor on Friday.

 

 

In media remarks to 9:00 PM talks show on T.V. 1, Masry added that the cabinet is taking all necessary measures to conduct the surgery for the twin (Lana and Leen) as fast as possible.

 

Professor of Plastic Surgery Amr Mabrouk, who is following up the case, said that the conjoined twin is a rare phenomenon that occurs to one in 200,000 cases, noting that 35 percent of such cases die within 24 hours.

 

In 2018, Alexandria hospital succussed in separating a conjoined twin.
