CAIRO – 10 August 2020: The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology signed a cooperation protocol to upgrade the technology infrastructure of the former over two years.

The most important step is the introduction of artificial intelligence to measure the impact of climate change, and the rationalization of water used in irrigation by analyzing different data. As such, accurate information will be made available on the cultivated area, and irrigation needs in different seasons making effective planning possible.

Moreover, the plan includes the automation of services offered to farmers and land owners, including launching a mobile app and renovating the ministry's website having farming guidelines. That is in addition to setting a strategy for introducing information management systems, and human resources management systems as well as holding capacity-building programs in the technology realm for workers.
