CAIRO, July 27 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli chaired on Monday a meeting over mechanisms to develop the medicine industry in Egypt.

Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Health Minister Hala Zayed, presidential adviser for health affairs Mohamed Awad Tag el Din in addition to other statesmen.

The premier said coronavirus crisis is a major threat to all world countries and it drew our attention to the importance of developing medicine industry in Egypt.

He said developing the medicine industry has been already on the table but this crisis expedited efforts exerted in this regard.

He underlined the importance of speeding up medicine registration measures and encouraging factories to develop medicine production.

He gave instructions of the importance of providing all medicines in all pharmacies and hospitals.

Abdel Ghaffar said Egypt is the first Arab and African country in the field of drug production, saying we have all needed potentials especially as there are more than 150 factories operating in this domain.

He said the country is exerting tremendous efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in drug production to guarantee the availability of drugs at affordable prices.
