CAIRO – 22 July 2020: Aref Al Nayed, the envoy of the Libyan Parliament speaker on Wednesday said the Libyan parliament is supporting the Egyptian military intervention in his country to stop the Turkish aggression.
 
In statements published by Russia Today channel, he added that Turkey is trying to control Libya and its resources through carrying around 16,000 fighters to Libya, most of them are from Al Qaeda and Daesh terrorist groups.
 
He added that this is why the Libyan parliament and tribal chiefs have resorted to Egypt for help against the Turkish occupation of Libya. 
 
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has also asserted that the Egyptian side is working on reaching a ceasefire in Libya to achieve a Libyan political negotiable solution.

Shoukry said Cairo Declaration aims at providing chances to maintain the unity of the Libyan territories and resume efforts exerted to eradicate terrorist groups and armed militias so that the Libyans would have stability and security.
 
This came during two phone calls Shoukry had with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
 
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said that the calls tackled the Libyan situation and efforts exerted to achieve political settlement there.
 
Shoukry asserted the Egyptian stance towards the Libyan cause, according to Hafez.
