CAIRO - 21 July 2020: The Egyptian Parliament unanimously approved the decision to send elements of the Egyptian armed forces on combat missions outside the borders of the Egyptian state to defend Egyptian national security in the western strategic borders against the actions of armed criminal militias and foreign terrorists.

Ahmed Mehanna, member of the Presidential Council and secretary-general of the Egyptian Freedom Party, said that the party, with all its organizational rules and units, declares its full support for the issues raised by President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi during his presidency of the National Defense Council meeting.

He added that the party authorizes the president to take all measures to maintain Egyptian internal and external national security.

Mehanna added that the current period requires the people of the country to put conflicts asideand stand behind the Egyptian state to confront the conspiracies and plots that aim to harm Egypt.

The head of the party pointed out that the Turkish terrorist regime, represented in RecepTayyipErdogan, aims to occupy Libya to rob the Libyan oil and wealth, and such goals have been revealed to the Arab and world public opinion.

He explained that Erdogan is supporting terrorist groups and an army of mercenaries and terrorists, as he announced earlier that Arab countries, such as Syria, had previously entered and are now interfering in the Libyan affairs to obtain and control the Libyan Oil Crescent.

He stressed that the Egyptian and Libyan peoples are working to preserve the security and stability of the Libyan state, especially as the two peoples have very strong ties.

The Free Egyptians party headed by Essam Khalil also announced full support for President Sisi and the Egyptian armed forces in protecting Egyptian national security.

In its statement, the party affirmed that the Egyptian leadership is exerting extensive efforts to stop bloodshed and establish Libyan stability to preserve the sovereignty of the brotherly Arab country, while the Turkish invasion continues to violate Libyan sovereignty with the support of militias and mercenaries.

The Free Egyptians Party added that the Libyan national security is an extension of the Egyptian national security, stressing that Egypt did not interfere for the sake of war, but rather to achieve security, protection, peace, and stability.

The party reiterated that Egypt always respects the sovereignty of states, always strives for the peace of nations, and will not fail a sister country that requests assistance to achieve peace.

The Democratic Generation Party also affirmed its support for the decision of the House of Representatives to agree to send elements of the Egyptian armed forces on combat missions outside the borders of the state to defend Egyptian national security.

Nagy el-Shehabi, head of the party, stated that all the institutions, parties, and trade and professional unions in Egypt stand by the president and our armed forces; he expressed his confidence in the ability of the armed forces to successfully carry out all tasks.

The heads of the parties of the Alliance of Egyptian Parties announced unanimously their support for the parliament's decision to send elements of the Egyptian armed forces on combat missions outside the borders of the Egyptian state.

The press author Mahmoud Nafadi, the media spokesman for the Alliance of Egyptian Parties, said that the decision was also approved by all youth and women's alliance structures and people with special needs, adding that this decision issued by the House of Representatives has the support of the masses of individuals, groups, and sects of the Egyptian people.

According to Article 152 of the Egyptian constitution, the state has to seek the Parliament’s approval before declaring war or sending its forces in combat missions. The members attending the session are not authorized to disclose any details of the discussion inside this secret meeting.

Libya is suffering a severe division between two factions; the Libyan Parliament and the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal KhalifaHaftar in the east and the GNA led by Fayez al-Sarraj. The latter is internationally recognized but is not accepted by the Parliament.

Hundreds were killed in continuous battles between the LNA and the forces of the GNA, over the past year.

The Egyptian army’s planned intervention in Libya has been justified by the presence of militias in the war-torn country, which threatens the national security of both Libya and its eastern neighbor, Egypt.

Sisi added during his meeting with the tribal chiefs thatEgypt has always stood by a peaceful solution in Libya through encouraging negotiations between Libyan factions. However, it will not stand idly as it watches practices that threaten Egypt’s national security.

He noted that in case the Egyptian forces enter Libya, they will be led by tribal leaders carrying the Libyan flag.
